Posting from Claude and ChatGPT: the video is on your machine, it goes out tomorrow at 9

The short answer

Claude and ChatGPT cannot post on their own: they have no access to your accounts. With Posty's MCP connection, they can. You connect your social accounts to Posty once, you add Posty as a connector to your assistant once, and from then on you schedule in ordinary sentences. The assistant writes the copy, and Posty schedules and publishes, to 11 platforms from one calendar.

What it can do, and what it cannot

Through Posty, your assistant can reach twelve actions: it fetches your connected channels and their rules, uploads media, checks a planned post, then creates, reschedules or deletes it. There is nothing in it that would connect another account in your name, ask for a password, or pull back a post that has already gone out on the platform. Once it has gone out, you can only delete it on the platform.

Eleven channels can be connected today: Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Telegram, Discord and Slack. Pinterest and Google Business Profile are coming soon, and LinkedIn company pages are waiting on LinkedIn's approval, so today you can post to your personal profile.

Setup in four steps

1. Connect your social accounts to Posty

You sign up for Posty, then on the Accounts page you connect your channels one by one. Every platform uses its own official login, so you see the usual Instagram, TikTok or Google permission screen. This is the only place your platforms ever grant access. Your assistant talks to Posty, never to the platforms.

• Connect everything you will post to. Adding an account later takes a minute, and you do not have to redo anything on the assistant's side.
• Instagram needs a business or creator account. You can connect it directly, with Instagram login, or through your Facebook Page. No tool can post to a personal Instagram account.
• On Facebook you connect Pages, not a personal profile. On YouTube, the channel you pick on the Google screen.

2. Create an MCP key

In the Posty app, under Settings, then the Developers page, you create a key for your assistant. The key starts with the psty_mcp_ prefix, and you see it once, when you create it. You also get the ready connector URL here, so you do not have to piece anything together.

3. Add Posty to your assistant

In the Claude app, under Settings, Connectors, you add a remote MCP connector with the URL from the Developers page. In Claude Code it is a single command in the terminal, and you get that ready-made too. In ChatGPT, under Settings, Connectors, you add a custom MCP connector with the same URL. 4. Check it in the calendar

Your assistant schedules, the post shows up in the Posty calendar, and you see there when it goes out and where. This is not an extra step you have to tick off: the post goes out on its own at the time you set. The calendar is there so that if you still want something different, you can edit or delete it in one click before it goes live.

The first post: the exact prompt

You do not need to learn commands. This sentence is enough, word for word:

I have a video on my computer of Saturday's brunch. Write a caption in our voice, and schedule it for tomorrow morning at 9 on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

What happens in the background after that, step by step. You do not have to do any of it, but it helps to know what to expect.

How the video gets up from your machine

This is the part most setups cannot do. An assistant cannot see inside your hard drive, and that is a good thing. So Posty does it the other way around: the assistant asks for an upload link, Posty gives one, you open it in your browser, and you drop in the file. The link is only good for uploading, only into your workspace, and it expires. The assistant then checks what arrived, and attaches it.

• If the file is already online, for example on a Drive link or your own website, you do not need a link: the assistant loads it directly from the public URL.
• You can drop several files into one upload, for example the images of a carousel.
• The upload limit is 1 GB per file.

What each platform requires

Your assistant fetches every channel's rules from Posty before it makes a post, so it catches most mistakes while you are still in the conversation. You should know these too, because the platform asks for them, not Posty.

What can go wrong, and how to fix it

"The channel cannot publish"

The platform permission expired or was revoked, which happens especially with Meta every few months. On Posty's Accounts page, you re-authorise the channel in one click, and the assistant continues. You do not have to set anything up again in the connector.

It went out at the wrong time

Almost always timezone. The assistant's first job is to fetch your timezone from Posty, but if it is working from another device or an old conversation, it may ask. If you are unsure, put it in the prompt: "Hungarian time".

"The text is too long"

Posty's check caught it, still in the conversation. This is the good case: ask the assistant to shorten it, or turn it into a thread.

The video format is wrong

Reels and Shorts need a vertical, 9:16 video. Posty will upload a landscape file too, but the platform will crop it or reject it. If you have a choice, start with vertical.
