What Hootsuite does well

• It builds detailed, customisable reports, watches competitors and helps with exportable summaries. Posty's analytics are still in beta.
• The social inbox gathers comments, messages and mentions in one place. You can also split them among team members. Posty has no social inbox.
• Approval rounds, roles and organisational units fit well when many people work on the same accounts. Posty handles roles and workspaces, but it has no multi-step approval round.
• It has four MCP servers, and it also connects to other systems with a public API and webhooks. Claude Code, OpenClaw, Codex, Hermes and Muse can drive it too.
• OwlyWriter AI writes copy, AI generates images, and the Canva integration helps with visual editing. We took these out of Posty on purpose: you connect your own model.
• The Chrome extension lets you collect and share content while you browse. Hootsuite Academy materials can also be used for a team's internal social media training.

When should you pick Hootsuite instead?

Hootsuite is the better pick if your team needs to process incoming comments and messages in one place, needs multi-step approval, or regularly builds detailed, custom reports. Posty is stronger where a visual calendar, recurring posts, media editing and AI-agent control matter, and large-company workflows do not.

It has a social inbox, a multi-step approval flow, more detailed analytics, a Chrome extension, and a built-in AI copywriter and image generation. Posty's analytics are still in beta, and we left AI generation out on purpose: through MCP, the API or the CLI, your own model can work with your calendar.

Posty also publishes to Telegram, Discord and Slack. Hootsuite does not treat these as publishing platforms. It uses Slack for notifications only. Both systems handle the major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads and Bluesky.
