The upload fails
- The file is too large. Images can be up to 10 MB and videos up to 1 GB. For images, the fastest fix is the Compress tool, available on the Pro plan and above.
- Unsupported format. Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, AVIF, BMP, TIFF. Video: MP4. Everything else must be converted.
- The upload stops. This can happen when uploading a large video over a slow connection. Try again over a wired or stable connection, and don't close the tab during the upload.
- Uploading from a URL through the API fails. Downloads are protected: the server rejects internal network and local addresses. Upload the media as a file instead.
The platform rejects it
The error message comes from the platform
If a post fails because of its media, we show the platform's error message exactly as we received it. It may be in English and may be terse, but it's the quickest way to solve the problem: it tells you what the platform rejected.
- Aspect ratio. Some platforms require a specific aspect ratio, such as for vertical video. Crop it to the required ratio with the Crop tool.
- Resolution. An image that's too small may be rejected. Upscaling it won't improve its quality.
- Video length. The minimum and maximum differ by platform.
- Required media. You cannot post to Instagram or TikTok without media.

iPhone photos
iPhones save photos in HEIC format by default, which platforms don't accept. There are two fixes: in your phone's Settings, set the camera format to “Most Compatible,” or use the HEIC → JPG quick tool in Posty.
Videos
- Only MP4 files can be uploaded. Convert any MOV or AVI files first.
- Choose the video's cover image in the media item's settings. If you don't choose one, the platform will select a frame.
- The video editor runs in your browser, so it won't start in older browsers. You'll see a message if this happens.
